Our Session: It’s a Co-creative Experience.

1. Consultation & Assessment
Based on your intention of the day, your therapist assesses your condition.  You and the therapist mutually determine the goal of your session, and the therapist customizes the session utilizing the most suitable techniques.

2. Interactive Session or Quiet Session
The therapist checks with you to ensure that the techniques and pressure are appropriate & comfortable.  Please feel free to communicate with the therapist about your thoughts, concerns and questions at any time during the session.  If you wish to enjoy a very quiet session, please advise your therapist and she will respect your space.

3. End of Session
You and the therapist discuss their findings (and if desirable, future plans and homework).

First Session

First Session is an opportunity to experience a variety of our techniques to decide which ones work well with you.  If you are not sure which service is most suitable for you, or you are interested in a number of modalities or having multiple areas of concern, please feel free to let your therapist know.  You and your therapist will work together to try different approaches to determine what techniques resonate well with you.  

Advanced Therapeutic
Advanced Therapeutic is a full-custom service with focus on chronic or stubborn pain (without enduring painful techniques).   We utilize non-invasive modalities and devices to design an effective & relaxing therapeutic session.  In addition to the modalities available for a Full-custom Massage session (listed below), your therapist has access to the following modalities:     

• Cupping Therapy 
  We have been providing cupping therapy since 2012.  We use several distinct cupping modalities, with a variety of cup sizes and materials, using varying suction levels from almost none to firm.  Cupping therapy is not only effective, but also extremely versatile.  It can induce deep relaxation by working on the autonomic nervous system, improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, soften hard "knots" or accumulated scar tissues, reduce stubborn tightness & pain. It can also help reduce edema and inflammation, reduce joint pain, improve joint range of motion, among other things.   
  
   
• Microcurrent Point Stimulation therapy (MPS therapy). 
  MPS Therapy applies brief, concentrated DC microcurrent impulses to specific treatment points to relax muscles, calm the nervous system and release endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. MPS is applied to pathology influencing all three systems — nervous, muscular and endocrine — for effective treatment of many chronic and acute soft-tissue pain conditions.  MPS is also known for its efficacy in scar tissue release (click here) and long-Covid-19 recovery (click here).

• Rapid Release Therapy (RRT). 
  Rapid Release Therapy uses a high-frequency vibration device to apply acute direct vibration on the target tissue. RRT is a safe, gentle, and relaxing treatment method.  Clients often experience pain relief and reduced muscle tension immediately.   In combination with other modalities we have available, RRT can bring faster and wider-ranging benefits to our clients such as softening of scar tissue, faster pain relief, shortening post-exercise recovery time, better joint rage of motion, restoration of flexibility.

Deep Reset Relaxation

Deep Reset Relaxation's main goal is to make you SUPER RELAXED.  It is suitable for people who are very stressed or exhausted, whose autonomic nervous system is unbalanced, or who cannot sleep well.  With the main intention to take your mind away from the daily stress, your therapist will create a unique sensory experience based on your preferences, physical & emotional states.  It will combine a variety of modalities to stimulate your senses and induce deep relaxation of your body, mind & spirit.  Typically, your therapist will choose several modalities from the following:

Full-custom Massage

Full-custom massage is a perfect choice if your body needs a session somewhere between Advanced Therapeutic and Deep Reset Relaxation.  Based on your goals and body conditions discussed or assessed at the beginning of the session, your therapist will select and combine suitable massage modalities and techniques.
Full-custom massage is suitable for:
Pregnancy massage             Geriatric massage         Therapeutic relaxation         Head-to-toe massage

Typically, your therapist is likely to combine various techniques from: 
Aromatherapy                   Heated stone massage                     Swedish massage         
Light-touch soft tissue work           Light-touch cupping massage             
Myofascial techniques            Gentle stretching. 
  
Full-custom Massage session does not include: MPS, RRT or MediCupping (machine cupping), Cold & Gemstone therapies.
 

Structural Bodywork

Structural Bodywork is the ultimate therapeutic work you will get at Healing Energy & Body Works.  The modalities available for Full-custom Massage and Advanced Therapeutic are available for a Structural Bodywork session.  The main difference is that, you and your therapist will have an interactive session -- your active participation may be required.  You will likely experience some SI-based work (Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, Advanced Myofascial Techniques, Structural Integration) and Joint capsule work.  Where the target tissue is tight, RRT, MPS and/or Cupping therapy may be used.  Expect some relaxing deep tissue massage and targeted stretching (AIS, Thai-Yoga, Shiatsu).   For more information about SI-based work and Joint capsule work, click here.

If deemed advisable, kinesiology tape may be applied at the end of a Structural Bodywork session.  This way, the client's body will continue to receive the helpful input or support even after leaving the treatment room.

​Relax & Stress relief	A relaxing, light to medium pressure massage.  Combination of long & slow soothing strokes reminds you of Hawaiian massage.  Scalp, neck & hand massage gently induces relaxation, quiets your mind chatters, helps reduce muscular discomfort, improves circulation, and refreshes your body.  Essential oils available upon request.
Therapeutic Relaxation	Suitable for anyone who wants to relax but also wants to address soreness, tightness, discomfort or pain.  You will be pleasantly surprised how a massage session can effectively take care of the pain & tightness while you remain relaxed.
Pregnancy (Prenatal,  Maternal)	A therapeutic and relaxing massage that focuses on the special needs of the   mom-to-be.  Enhances the muscle and joint functions, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue.  Miss lying face down? Our pregnancy massage cushion has a very deep cavity to accommodate soon-to-be-mom tummies for the face down position.  Pregnancy massage may be upgraded to Advanced Therapeutic, Deep Reset Relaxation, Structural Bodywork, etc., depending on the intention of the expectant mom.
Golden Age (Geriatric) massage	Just like pregnant moms, people of Golden Age have their specific needs that may not be fully addressed by a cookie-cutter massage.   Joint aches, blood thinner & other medication, stability issues, chronic swelling, arthritis, repetitive motions, past injuries & surgeries...  There are many reasons that  their skin, bones, joints respond differently than much younger folks.   We need to keep the body happy and active.  This service takes into account what your specific conditions are and aims to address your body's specific needs.

 

Advanced Therapeutic: You probably won't find the same service anywhere else.

Signature Blend of Techniques

Included in our Massage & Bodywork, our signature blend of techniques takes advantage of body's mechanism in delivering relaxation and reducing pain.  Effective combination will be customized for each client.  By the end of a session, you will notice that the pain that was prominent prior to the session has significantly reduced and that the range of motion has noticeably increased.  

Techniques	Description
Geo-thermal  (Hot & Cold stone) therapy	Deeply relaxing.  Effectively loosens chronically tight muscles.  Helps increase circulation, decrease tension & tissue stiffness, break down scar tissues, improve range of motion, increase metabolism, balance the autonomic nervous system.  For demo video of LaStone techniques, click here and here.
Myofascial Release	We believe that release of fascia is the key to pain management and attainment of equilibrium in the body.  With application of heat and sustained pressure, you will feel the tension melt away and the target tissue regain flexibility& resilience.

Thai/Yoga/Shiatsu work	Sakura’s unique combination of Thai massage, Shiatsu (Japanese massage) and Yoga body mechanics.  Involves slow, deep & sustained pressure with stretching, which elite athletes and people who love deep pressure find satisfying.
Cranial Sacral therapy	A gentle and relaxing technique to relieve pain and dysfunction by working on the cerebrospinal fluid and the central nervous system.  Induces a profound sensation of relaxation that you may find intriguing and do not wish to come out of.
